like the article, and would like to think that any person would have the chance at managing a team! my dad never made it to the big leagues due to a knee injury , but was asked to tryout for the bruins farm team back in the day. he went on to never play but coached some great teams in midget and minor leagues and hes proud that some of those players are in the NHL. that being said he also taught coaches how to coach and designed some teaching tools for hockey canada. At the end of the day i think if he wasnt sick, and had studied on the business side of things he would have been an excellent manager. My view may be biased but hes not on an island, there are plenty of people that are or have done the same things as my pops, i think they could hold the reigns. Its is pretty incredible what sammy p did and selke b4 him! habs for life

I will say this, IMO, Sherman only became a great GM when Sakic joined the MGMT staff.

You need a GM who can sign smart contracts and negotiate deals in their favor. However you still need the scouts to draft well, and the evaluators to help determine hockey talent which is where the knowledge of the game point comes in with previous experience.

I think its not just one person but the MGMT and even the coach as a whole that wins cups.
